Abstract

This paper offers a complicated, bittersweet analysis of the Asian pivot of Roman Catholicism. Catholicism is experiencing a profound sense of estrangement in the West and has initiated a journey toward the East. This century, that has been labelled for good reasons the Asian Century, marks the beginning of this journey, which has an unclear, uncertain destination. Asia in fact may reveal itself to be a hostile new home for Catholicism.
